Natal, Solar & Saturn Returns, Transits & Progressions

Reading the now and future in terms of growth and cycles is best done after the Birth Chart is at least basically interpreted. Imagine the chart is like an instrument and the many cycles are like fingers strumming and plucking it. Our core nature, purpose, character, talents, lessons and destiny are mapped out in the Birth chart.
Since you did not ask me any questions, I am offering a basic overview of your character, some deeper evolutionary growth themes and current cycles. This is a standard approach which offers various angles of perspective which are then woven into a more complete synthesis. This is a key reflection of the art of interpretation.
Although I do not normally use too many technical terms with a client, in this instance I do a bit more for the sake of learning experience for readers. You’re Birth Chart and current transit charts used for this reading are posted there as well. (HERE)

Note to Readers: don’t try to understand the technical terms, simply read through and take in the words and interpretations that you do understand. The code language is not that difficult to learn, yet until you do, as with any language, you stand to feel intimidated. Simply focus on the interpretations.
Birth Chart – Overview:
With the Sun, Mercury and the Moon’s North Node and Pallas Athene all in Pisces in the 4th House and both closely aligned at 0 and 1 degree Pisces, you are certainly fulfilling your destiny. This combination of planets is placed in the House of ‘home’. This is a clear indication of you working from home (4th) as a writer, communicator, teacher, editor and/or perhaps owner of a retreat (Pisces). Pallas Athene in there symbolizes the charge of purpose and valiant stance as is reflected in Issues Magazine and Johnson’s Landing Retreat Centre, hardly conservative. This aspect also says that you a great dreamer and visionary who is group and cooperation focused. Negatively, you may harbor anger concerning people’s lack of vigilance and dedication to humanistic causes. If this continues to be strong in you, set a clear intention to recognize and dissolve your attachments in this respect as they will not serve but only cause you mental/emotional stress, and the harm that it breeds.
Your Ascendant is 7 Scorpio 19. This implies a passionate, potent and conscientious approach. Power and control vie with change and transformation of self, others and situations. The ultimate lesson is to change yourself, your own perspective and position. However, when appropriate and with the correct boundary, tool and permission, you may be adept at activating change in people and even situations.
Mars and Pluto rule Scorpio. With Pluto most elevated in the chart in Leo and Mars in Scorpio in an in the 1’st, there is additional of strength, drive, courage and determination; a clear reflection of the Chinese Water Dragon! This highlights the hero archetype and of your lifeguard days. You must be stronger than you appear to be! Scorpio is also the researcher, editor and this is further indicated by Pluto in Leo in the 10 House of Career. Not surprisingly, this degree of the Midheaven, the career line implies alternative approaches, psychology, metaphysics and healing with groups. Pluto is closely aligned with the South Node in Virgo which is an indication of continued editorial tasks, something you might have left behind had the South Node not been so close. It is 10 degrees away so age 10 must have synchronized with a very important experiential anchor. Scorpio is also the sign of skepticism and amidst all your sincere searching’s, this will remain true today keeping you ever open minded yet vigilantly aware of any possible limitations ideally in your own and other people’s beliefs and interpretations. Yet convinced that truth is experience, you live and let live.
Venus in Aquarius is one of the most interesting planetary placements in your chart. The two key reasons are: 1) that Venus is positioned at 00 Aquarius 00, go to your chart and see for yourself. Venus looks most like an Ankh and is at the 7 o’clock position of your chart. 2) Venus is technically unaspected save for a minor aspect to Pluto, which does count, yet not according to foundational principles and rules of Western Astrology. Unaspected planets produce something of a wild card effect. This will certainly be evident in your style of expression. It also produces an earnest search for worth and value in everyone and everything. This will include hands on experiential approaches to learning. It will also make you strongly freedom oriented. The asteroid Goddess Juno is closely aligned to Venus yet in late Capricorn and is also a wild card player. Juno here demands honest and respectful communication with partners and indicates marriage later in life.
On this note of Asteroids, the other two not mentioned, Ceres in Aries and Pallas in Virgo, are also both unaspected. So, three out of the four Asteroid Goddesses which are strong indicators of one’s feminine principles ands modes of engaging in inter personal relationships. Ceres in your chart speaks of an independent, creative, playful and fun means of nurturing others with emphasis on the child, within and without and a spirit of anything goes, almost. Vesta in Virgo in your career house suggests tireless dedication to your career with a perfectionist streak that you may impose on self and others. Sharp criticisms stemming from a subjective place may go unnoticed by you until others make you aware. You have probably learned much about this by now. So, with three out of the four main Asteroids unaspected, you will certainly possess a few wild streaks. It also places emphasis on the one that is aspected, Pallas Athene, the protector of truth and justice who lives life with purpose. In Pisces conjunct the Sun, Pallas implies strong spiritual values and appreciates meditation and self knowledge.
Saturn and Neptune closely aligned in Libra crossing the 11th and 12 House cusps, in that order, brings practicality to the mystic and both are in positions of honor. Neptune is important because it is the ruling planet of your Sun. Venus is the ruling planet of Libra and she in Aquarius basically indicates a friendly, if slightly eccentric Style. Uranus rules Aquarius and with it in Cancer and the Moon, which rules Cancer in Capricorn and close to Chiron also there makes you a healer and protector, yet perhaps ever uncertain of what exactly constitutes your career role, save for wearing many hats, like your mother. But things were not so easy there, at home and with your parents where evident issues and troubles rumbling along through your early years and coming to a sort of peak at age11. By the time you were 9, you knew when and how to assert yourself and where and when to hide.
A life of service with a vision of the bigger picture and a steady discipline of expression and sincere efforts might simply describe your path. With a deep conviction in equal rights between the sexes, as a spiritual and a political truth, makes you an ardent promoter. In the course of your life, your main lessons would include emotional self mastery, finding or carving your own unique path and settling karmic debts in close personal relationships. The men in your life would be very strong and together you would learn all about the ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ use of will.
Current Transits:
Given the host of powerful aspects lining up and set to activate throughout the summer months – June to September especially, everyone stands to experience some powerful shifts and tremors at least indirectly. I outlined the major aspects currently active now and over the course of the summer of 2010 in the last Issues publication and it can be seen again (HERE). How these will affect you or any person place or other person in the eyes of the law (businesses) depends on the particulars of one’s birth chart. I will incorporate these aspects into your Update and Forecast Reading. I will look mostly at the next year cycle using Transits (see chart) Progressions (see chart) Solar Return (see chart) and to larger cycles as well because you are on the eve of experiencing your second Saturn Return which offers useful insights concerning the core features of your “duty” and evolutionary work to do over the course of the 29.5 year Saturn cycle. Of course, many cycles occur within this time frame yet it provides an anchor theme focus. In each section I will provide a title for the sake of clarity.
Introductory Overview of Current Cycles for Angele
So you are now 58. Of itself, this implies a year of some endings backed by new beginnings and moves, and/or deepening your commitment to certain important aspect of your life. You are ready to stabilize your focus somehow and you will. Yet, this will require extra initiative. Be willing to feel the fear and do it anyway. It will prove extra important to take risks and avoid over analyzing. You will want and perhaps need to see a bigger picture of your self, your life, your health and your relationships. Some years it is better to step back, intuit, assess, dream and envision.
Noticeable changes close to home over the past 6 months are probable as with your business and staff perhaps but especially within yourself. It’s as though you are learning how to be an even better friend to yourself and take care of some of your own needs first. Health and healing is implied. These changes may also be reflected in some of the set up at the retreat centre and or your actual home. Did you move or at least do a deep cleaning of your home generally and office or studio especially?
This process would also have had a positive healing effect on your primary relationship with Richard. At deeper levels, you are working through mother/father root issues in your relationship these days especially. I would imagine this includes creating clear and harmonious agreements regarding your home and the retreat center and the many administrative processes implied as the two overlap. Clear, respectful and open minded communication where negotiations and deals are made is ever important.
You will also find yourself seeking teachers, mentors and guides more than you might usually over the course of the next 12 months. This Astrology Reading for you comes under this heading quite aptly. You are ready to explore and awaken even more fully and to do so you will require as much space as you can get. Amidst an otherwise ambitious determination you will be wise to set clear intention, communicate these intentions and desires more clearly than usual and with strong boundaries. This suggests that you will be in a take command mood or at least pro-active. Passivity this year will produce aggression both from within and without. Aim to flow steadily with the fast and turbulent currents generally forecasted for this year.
Between January and your Birthday you will have experienced a boost of energy and a pro-active determination to take some new initiatives. Getting going early in the year can sometimes be a challenge, but you were into it this time. Now and for the rest of the year you will be looking to the bigger picture over the long term. You may also find, along with wanting more insights and guidance exercising more than average self analysis that you will also be extra discerning.
All the while your power is rising and you are gaining more recognition than previously in your life. This cycle began in 2008 which probably marked a year when you began to attend or do things that you have been inwardly preparing for some time, years even. Again, healing and self-generation process is implied along with other self actualizing goals. The biggest challenge stands to be maintaining emotional balance and center.
Altogether, this will lead you to increased measures and new ways of being of service which will begin in a couple of years at age 60. Yet, managing your energy levels may become increasingly necessary as your Progressed Moon is now in its last quarter.
Generally this year will be one of financial power. After a rather studious year and a lot of hard work to ‘raise the bar’ somehow, for the sake of achieving new levels of financial success last year this year you are ready to ‘go for it’. The learning curve will continue in this regard yet you will still have to work for it. This will include communications, marketing and generally getting the word out there more loudly and effectively. You will be wearing many hats this at least as much as usual and probably more. Last you’re your work focus included creative and enterprising ideas and now you will be challenged manage the response.
Perhaps the greatest challenge will be on personal relationship fronts. Ending of certain patterns at least and changes in your residence or lifestyle are probable as a consequence of this year’s experiences and activities. Whether this proves to be the ending of relationship patterns or relationships altogether will depend on your responses and choices. Change of some kind in this regard is quite certain.
Solar Return or Birthday Chart
The following is an overview of some of the key points regarding your Solar Return chart cast for the moment when the Sun ‘returns’ to the exact degree it was when you were born. This chart alone can produce a lot of insights with dates, events and occurrences. However, I will keep it brief and I offer it for added insight and as an example of how it can be used to create greater awareness and clarity regarding the themes, mood and flow for the year until your next birthday.
The Sun is in the 4th House as it was when you were born. This will bring a lot of focus to the home front and family. With Mercury, Chiron, Neptune, Sun, Jupiter and Venus all there in Pisces you stand to experience a lot of fulfillment at home where in addition to a lot of activity, you will undergo new levels of self awareness and healing on both physical and emotional levels. Yet, this chart too indicates the need for “Temperance”. Otherwise you may push too hard and exhaust your energies. With Mars retrograde we experience noticeable fluctuations in our energy levels so pace yourself and rest as and when you can. Changes in your closest personal relationships are again indicated. These stand to be very deep yet satisfying due to the ability to create new levels of communication. Given the current state of the economy and certain key factors in this chart, you may have to work a little harder this year to ensure a steady flow of business. Beyond income, however, you will rejoice in the magic of the gatherings that will occur at your retreat location. Further, you stand to benefit deeply from some of them and you will feel inspired to participate with full presence. With Cardinal Libra rising and Leo on the career line, you stand to achieve a lot this year and you will want to so make sure you set clear goals.
Overall, you should experience a lot of satisfaction both personally and intimately with your significant other, though you will also earn it. You may find yourself so enmeshed in the growth opportunities and processes that you will have to push yourself to stay on top of the administration of your business.
Transits to Natal:
The transiting planets do constitute the most dynamic focus of all the update techniques. Many who know something about Astrology assume these to be the only or most important. Actually, as eventful as Transits are, they are often the cycles we can do the most about in terms of choices. It is the progressions the themes of which emerge from within that are less negotiable. I will begin here with outlining the most important transits and their influence for you this year.
Pluto the planet of change, purging and transformation is certainly having a strong impact on you these days. With your Natal Moon at 3 Capricorn 38, Pluto is forming a series of conjunctions that will bring about changes in you, how you approach you career and finances and home and family and your own psychology regarding security and personal growth and development to greater levels of maturity.
You would have begun to really feel this aspect as early as January 2008 when Pluto first entered Capricorn. Yet, the effect would have been especially noticeable last year especially in March. The biggest and clearest impact of all to date will have been in January of this year. This would have produced events that would really launch the change process implied into motion. Mid July will produce the next most measurable effect and this is where the themes activated will deepen significantly. Resolution will finally come in November of 2010.
All being well, you will be currently in a rather deep process of shedding some old skins and habits based on pride, control and lack in the financial sense and regarding respectful exchanges. Your chart reveals a few complexes of an emotional sort that step from early childhood experiences of power struggles between your parents. There will be a few chapters in this story as when Pluto Opposes Uranus in early 2013.
Your overall lesson includes breaking old reaction patterns prone to stubborn resistance and control verses open cooperation. The roots of these probably run very deep in your subconscious, to past lives perhaps where scarcity was a real issue. Since Pluto brings things to the surface to be changed, cleared or transformed, you can be sure to find clues of the issues from your home life as a child. Energy psychology could assist you here, as could focus to clear wealth wounds and limiting beliefs. Maria Nameth and her book “The Energy of Money” could prove extra worthwhile at this time. Any form of counseling at this time would probably prove helpful if not actually needed.
Simultaneous to Pluto Conjunct the Moon is Saturn Square the Moon. This will bring an added weight and a sobering and restrictive feeling to the whole process. It may feel as though you are being pinned down while Pluto does its work. It’s like mother is having an operation and all dad can do is sit and wait. I will speak more of Saturn in a moment. Isolation, restriction, depression, low self esteem is common feelings during this transit. The attitude required is a willingness to perceive and think in new ways. Accept the lessons the taskmaster is making you learn. Let the synchronicities that unfold reveal the process. Do not blame anyone or yourself and avoid the victim and the escapee. Breather and observe and engage with others with honesty and sincerity and willingness to learn and to change your perspectives. Interpretation and style of expression are not our authenticity; they can shift while we remain true. Like new décor in our house without renovations.
With Neptune in your chart is the 4th House, the House ruled by the Moon that is undergoing the Pluto conjunction by transit, the psychological themes linked to home and family are also accented. This influence would have begun in early 2005. At worst, this produces confusion and unconscious denials. At best, it is helping you to realize some of your long cherished dreams and ideals. Your willingness to work consciously with this is also ideal. By way of a future glimpse of Neptune’s influence, by May 2011 Neptune will conjunct your Lunar North Node and Mercury and by May 2012 tit will conjunct the Sun and Pallas Athene. At best, this will produce states and feeling of transcendence. You will experience higher levels of intuition and may be clearer about what you ‘do and do not have to do’. At worst, this transit could increase denial and lead you to want to escape somehow. Look for these as symptoms of the lower road. Rather, take the risk to experiment with new modes of communication and thinking. You may also feel very attracted to meditate more. Working with your dreams may also prove especially rewarding and illuminating during this time.
Uranus in Pisces has brought a lot of change to your world over the past several years. The turn of the Millennium – 2000 – would have produced the first key ‘moves’. A change of lifestyle, and to some extent your self-concept, was likely at that time. But the real shifts would have come about in 2003. This would have synchronized with some real shaking and awakening. Uranus is currently making its last aspect before it enters Aries in June to Juno thus affording you opportunities to see your role as spouse or partner in new and better ways.
When Uranus enters Aries (May 28 2010) it will also form the last of 5 Opposition Aspects with Saturn (July 27, 2010) yet this will be in Cardinal Signs – symbolic of initiative and new beginnings and seasons. Everyone will feel the impact of this powerful transit. Something new is coming and it stands to shake the status quo and the firmament is some very real and noticeable ways. The initial effect for you will again be one of letting go of control. It is the nature of the ego to want to control for the sake of creating safety and feelings of security. Wisdom, maturity and transcendence implies the ability to surrender to a higher order and let go of habitual reactions to want to control – a potentially liberating and rejuvenating process. Focus to achieve this.
Starting in May 2011, that month again, Uranus will Square your Natal Moon. With this many hard aspects to your Natal Moon, not noticing anything would probably imply deep levels of denial. This will produce surprises, unexpected events and erratic emotional reactions, at worst. There is ever the possibility of responding to events with awareness and high mindedness and this is one of the greatest gifts of Astrology. Any repressions lodged in your subconscious and habitual self-concept will be ‘brought to light’ with this aspect. Again relationship with family members could undergo a lot of strain and even lead to break-ups. At best, you will experience new levels of emotional freedom. This is the goal to aim for. Rather than react crazily defending your old guard, invite the changes that this aspect want to bring to you – increased emotional freedom. Repressions, denials and projections could well produce chaotic interactions and possibly even contribute to accidents and things breaking down in your environment. Our consciousness and our environment are woven in more intricate ways than many seem to realize, yet with the new consciousness awakening, people are beginning to realize this and so at least it is happening in your life at a good time in history. All the same, these strong aspects to your natal Moon could produce a lot of stress. Be willing to cooperate both within and without. Do not resist. Listen to your feelings and watch for external signs and clues and communicate sincerely. Nurture yourself all the while with extra TLC.
Secondary Progression to Natal
The most significant fact worthy of mention is that the Sun will Progress into Taurus on January 29, 2011. This will begin a 30 year cycle and the shift will have a definite influence. It could turn your attention to making more money in more ways. Or you could get into gardening with a whole new passion. Or you could get more lazy and sensual. The main message is that the influence of Taurus will be coloring your Sun. Enjoy your last year of Aries after 30 years of it. The first thing that will happen is the Sun will Square Natal Venus. This will increase your desire for pleasure and self gratification. Get done what you can this year. You will not feel like doing so much in 2011 anyway, or it will prove more uncomfortable too do so. With awareness you can adjust your rhythm and style; you will pretty much have to. I believe you will get that much more creative and focused on your land. Green houses and permaculture and gardening will become your new art and hobby. You may even be having initial thoughts about this already.
For the sake of brevity, I will simply add that the Progressed Moon is contributing to changes close to home and to your overall lifestyle, as are several other factors mentioned. In about 7 months the Moon will enter Pisces conjuncting the stellium there. By October 2010 you will be very much in need of rest and space, and this will continue through the winter and with the Sun entering Taurus, you can expect that you will not be the same. You will enter a new phase where managing your energy levels will become increasingly important. Your creative, imagination may well rise noticeably but you may be simply in the mood to feel it for quite some time, up to a couple of years. You are wise to take this into due consideration regarding your communications, negotiations and harmonious relations with close family members so you have the respect and support you will need next year. Finally, the artistic streak will increase as progressed Mercury conjuncts Progressed Venus in 2011 as well.
This is certainly an eventful time for you Angele. Many changes within you and close to home and in your closest relationships will be a central theme this year. You will make sincere efforts to get a lot done, more perhaps even than usual and you will aim for harmony on all fronts. This could prove to be a very satisfying year of change and transformation amidst steady progress. You are changing quickly now or at least will take that turn very soon. You have reason to celebrate it. Do work to clear residual patterns that cause unnecessary petty problems in your relationships. What is happening is not your fault but it is your responsibility. Handle the karma gracefully and be a willing warrior, like Arjuna.
Saturn Return:
I am offering this extra piece because you will experience your second Saturn Return in November this year. It is always useful to gain some insight on this important return chart. All planets return and the exact moment they do, cast for the location you are at that time, offer insights with emphasis on the themes linked to the planet. The shortest duration returns are those of the Moon, 27.3 days to be exact. These illustrate the Moon rhythms and even events that will occur each month, yet with emphasis on feelings, moods and emotional flow. The Sun returns each year approximately within 24 hours either side of our exact birthday. This return is the one in most common use and it can be used all in its own to provide deep insight into the important themes of the year and even when they will be activated. Interpreting any return is subject to certain rules and it is quite complex. But when done well can provide a wealth of practical knowledge. As mentioned, all the planets can be assessed this way but the Lunar, Solar and the Saturn Returns are probably the most commonly used.
Any interpretation technique offers quite a lot of information and can take time to truly weigh and assess. However, even a few main points can help a lot. The following is a brief synopsis of your Saturn Return chart – emphasizing your deeper duty. Again due to the importance of keeping this short, it will be a challenge to do it the full justice it and you deserve. Saturn is the ‘lord of karma’. We are wise to pay close attention to its admonitions as it carries substantial weight of authority. Since the next time it returns in when you are about 88, you might imagine the value of knowing your next key evolutionary assignment.
Saturn in Libra in the 2nd with Virgo Rising and Gemini on the 10th, the house cusp of Capricorn and ruled by Saturn implies the patient building of new foundations, especially in your relationships. There is a strong spiritual component present as well. In your case, this implies the need to create balance between giving and receiving. It may be that you over give in some areas and under give in others. As important as this will be in your outer relationships, it also indicates that this is a personal process. In other words, like the traditions of India, once ones worldly duties are performed, it is time to re-establish a deep link with source. Not everyone has this destiny, but you do, as I see it. Rather deep inner work is implied by the presence of Mars and Mercury closely aligned in your 4th House in Sagittarius. That Mercury is at 27 Sagittarius conjunct the Galactic Center (26 Sag.), considered a very spiritual point in the chart, and with Jupiter, the ruling planet of Sagittarius conjunct Uranus in Aries in the 7th House of relationships and so ‘dispositing’ (transferring) the energy of Mercury, and with Mars, the ruler of Aries conjunct Mercury and so looping back, there is a very special mode of thought and action required. I interpret this to imply a special teacher and or teaching or perhaps a few key techniques that are compatible. The good news is that achieving higher states of consciousness is implied. The not so good news is that it will include a lot of change and require that you be willing to acknowledge and face certain fears. Admittedly, my interpretation leans to a classical eastern approach to higher states of awareness and enlightenment. Any progress in this regard should be interpreted as victory.
With both the Moon and Venus at 29 degrees, the last degree of their respective signs, a critical degree in Astrology implying an added urgency and need for attention, you are meant to create a new balance between giving and receiving. Ironically, you are meant to do the work so that you empathize less and give more, especially to your creative aspirations. Working with color and beauty and perhaps music, comes to mind. Raising your overall energy levels is also implied.
Consider that most of what you ‘have’ is what you have inherited. I am referring to your character and nature and body etcetera. This is true for each of us. We, as souls incarnate into personality bodies are the inheritors of mostly everything, our genes, karmic patterns, circumstance etcetera. We can and do raise or lower the over all quality of our inheritances, yet we can also learn not to take it personally. Easier said than done thus the spiritual ‘work’ implied. With Pluto conjunct the North Node in Capricorn, again the sign ruled by Saturn, there is good reason to believe that you are picking up on unfinished work. Fulfilling the requirements of destiny does not necessarily occur in a linear fashion or in a single lifetime. Whatever the core focus, we pick up where we left off. Sometimes we have other duties to perform before we can or are ready to resume. Sometimes we have to earn our way back into the temple.
The close conjunctions of Neptune and Chiron and of Jupiter and Uranus add a strong theme of individuality to the plot. Don’t expect others to be able to share in this work and the steps you must take to fulfill it. This does not necessarily meaning the end of relationships with others, yet it will bring in a strong added measure of uniqueness and would prove a challenge to traditional attitudes.
I will close with emphasis on the Sun. Although this is Saturn Return chart perspective, the Sun is ever significant. In this chart it is at 5 Sagittarius in the 3rd House. This will contribute to the need to remain alert and to exercise a poise born of recognizing the play of both conscious and subconscious factors. Engaging with others in close connection is also suggested and this takes the solo theme our of this important spiritual task focus. Remain open to new groups who share a special focus being formed and you may well be the one to take the initiative. Some form of credo in such situations could relieve anyone of having to carry more responsibility and authority than anyone else.
